Mr. Mannix Barnes


Mr. Barnes is our Native American Committee member who currently serves as Chief of Staff at the Oklahoma Department of Labor under State Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields.  Mr. Barnes is an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma.  Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Mr. Barnes graduated high school at Western Heights, located in southwest Oklahoma City.  He later attended the University of Central Oklahoma earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting Communication and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Administration.  Before taking the position at the Oklahoma Department of Labor, Mr. Barnes served as Executive Director for Lawyers for Working Oklahomans, an organization dedicated to protecting the rights of injured workers.  Previous employment also includes Press Secretary for former House Speaker Larry Adair, Chief Executive Officer for the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma Development Corporation, and Area Field manager for the U.S. Census Bureau. 

Mr. Barnes has worked closely over the years with the Oklahoma City Chapter of the NAACP, Roosevelt Milton, Milt Combs, Rep. Mike Shelton, City Councilman Skip Kelly, Sen. Connie Johnson and various other organizations and officials in the community on making sure Oklahoma City remains safe and productive.
